It wasn't until 1961 that Stroud got its first Comprehensive School. Archway was and is, situated on the site of the Farm Hill Park estate, once owned by Henry Wyatt. Wyatt, an activist for Wilberforce's Abolition of Slavery Campaign, commemorated the 1833 Act by building a Memorial Arch at the entrance to his estate, which the school adopted for it name and badge. From January 2016, this website is managed by Stroud Local History Society |
