|What:||Historical building c1610|
|Where:||Off Castle Street|
|Then:||One time home of Stroud Historian, Paul Hawkins Fisher|
|Now:||Privately owned flats|
It is not known how or when the house acquired its name, but a tradesman's token of the time of King Charles II has "Henry Allen of the" on one side and "Castel in Stroud" on the other, which suggests it may have been an inn of that name at one time.
